A-State Leader Scholarship Guidelines (2023-24)
The A-State Leader Scholarship is administered through the A-State Financial Aid & Scholarships Office. Any questions concerning the
scholarship should be directed to the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office at (870) 972-2310.
Arkansas State University reserves the right to make changes to the scholarship program at any time based on available funding and eligible
applicants.
What the Scholarship Covers:
• The A-State Leader Scholarship provides $8,000 annually (Split between Fall and Spring terms) for students living on the A-State
campus or $6,000 annually if living off campus.
• The scholarship pays for courses taken at the A-State campus only. Awards are contingent upon the availability of funds and
housing scholarships are contingent upon the availability of on-campus housing.
• Housing scholarships cannot be combined.
• This scholarship is awarded for the duration of eight consecutive semesters or through completion of the undergraduate degree,
whichever occurs first, provided the student maintains all scholarship requirements.
How to Qualify:
• The scholarship is awarded during the senior year to U.S. citizens who are 2023 high school graduates.
• Students must be admitted to the university. This includes submitting an admissions application with fee, official ACT or SAT
scores and official six or seven-semester transcript.
• Students must have a minimum ACT superscore of 25-27 or New SAT Total score of 1210-1309 or a high school GPA of 3.750 on
a six or seven-semester transcript

• Awards will begin in fall 2022 for eligible recipients and will be awarded on a rolling basis based on funding until July 1, 2023.
• A limited number of awards are available.
Student Responsibilities for Accepting and Maintaining the A-State Leader Scholarship Award:
• Students who are selected to receive the A-State Leader Scholarship are advised to accept the scholarship offer within 30 days;
however, the offer will not be revoked until August 1, 2023. If A-State does not receive acceptance by August 1, 2023, the
scholarship offer will no longer be valid.
• Should you accept the scholarship and later decide to attend another university, please notify the Financial Aid & Scholarships
Office in writing or by email Scholarships@astate.edu .
To accept the 23-24 scholarship offer:
1. Login to my.AState.edu Select the First Time Users button and follow the prompts, if applicable
2. Select the Banner Self Service button
3. Select the Financial Aid link and choose 2023-2024 Aid Year
4. Follow the links in the Scholarships Section to complete the following:
* Accept/Decline your A-State Scholarship Offer
* Accept the Terms and Conditions of your A-State Scholarship Offer (If accepting scholarship)

NOTE: Students receiving a room as part of their scholarship packaage must apply separately for housing through the Office of
University Housing and pay the applicable housing prepayment.
• Enrollment of a minimum 15 credit hours toward a Bachelor’s Degree at the A-State campus is required during each consecutive
Fall and Spring semester. Concurrent enrollment on another campus cannot be used to meet full-time enrollment status nor be paid
for by the scholarship. Enrollment is locked at midnight on the 11th class day. Students in an academic program that is lockstepped and prohibits 15 hours in any given semester will be allowed to receive their scholarship upon approval of the Scholarship
Office and receipt of letter from academic advisor. Students in their final semester of scholarship eligibility or final semester before
graduation will be allowed to take a minimum of 12 A-State hours. Please notify the Scholarship Office if you are graduating
early.
• Students must be seeking a Bachelor’s Degree.
• All online degree programs are ineligible for Institutional Scholarships.
• Matriculation at the A-State campus must occur in the Fall semester immediately following high school graduation.
• Any student who is enrolled full-time at another college, university, or technical college during a regular semester (Fall or Spring)
following high school graduation automatically forfeits the scholarship.
• Students who are taking a developmental course as part of their 15 credit hours at the A-State campus and who also plans to test out
of the course, must contact the Scholarships Office before taking the test to discuss possible options for keeping the scholarship.
• All college level course work is calculated into the overall GPA for scholarship renewal.
• Students who have grade changes are responsible for contacting the Scholarships Office so that their scholarship status can be
reevaluated.
• For military exceptions, contact the Scholarships Office at (870) 972-2310.
• Award holders who are dependents of faculty and staff will be paid 25 percent of the tuition and fees scholarship value and 50
percent of the housing scholarship per semester, for A-State credit hours in addition to the faculty/staff discount.
Scholarship Renewal
• Students are required to maintain an overall 3.000 GPA and successfully complete 30 credit hours (fall and spring combined) each
academic year at the A-State campus. Students with incomplete grades will forfeit their scholarship if they do not otherwise meet
the scholarship criteria. Note- accepted transfer credits will be calculated into overall GPA.
• Any student who receives all Ws, Fs, WNs, Is and/or FNs at the end of any fall term will lose their scholarship for all subsequent
semesters.
• Probation – Any Freshmen, Sophomore, or Junior level recipient who does not meet their renewal criteria at the end of the spring
semester will have until the end of that Summer II term to obtain an overall 3.000 GPA and successfully complete 30 A-State hours
(Fall, Spring, and both Summer I and Summer II combined) or they will forfeit the scholarship for all subsequent semesters. All
classes taken during probation for hour and GPA deficit must be taken at the A-State campus.
• Students who have lost their scholarship eligibility have the opportunity to regain eligibility if the student meets the criteria at the
end of the following year, spring semester. Students have to complete 30 A-State hours and have an overall 3.000 GPA at the end
of the next academic year after losing the scholarship. All course work must be at the A-State campus. Students meeting this
requirement simply need to email their scholarship reinstatement request to Scholarships@AState.edu at the end of the spring
semester after regaining eligibility. Students will be notified by email after eligibility has been verified.
• If an extenuating circumstance has caused a student to fail to meet the academic requirements for scholarship renewal, the student
may appeal to the Financial Aid & Scholarships Committee. Please visit AState.edu/scholarships for details.
